In late 2020, SmartTots gathered a group of distinguished researchers to begin work on a white paper to provide a narrative review of the current state of pediatric anesthetic neurotoxicity research and to chart future recommendations specific to pediatric intraoperative and procedural general anesthetic care. The paper also set out to identify the remaining research questions and recommended future research approaches. In March 2022, Anesthesia and Developing Brains: Unanswered Questions and Proposed Paths Forward, was published in Anesthesiology. The paper, initiated by SmartTots, was co-written by 12 renowned authors with Dr. Caleb Ing as lead author.
